Today’s Turbulence Training for Abs workout was just as good as the one I did on Monday, although I’m not a huge fan of step-ups :S Don’t know why, but they belong to the exercises I don’t look forward to.
But a woman’s gotta do, what a woman’s gotta do. Right?
Today’s chart
When I look back at my life (which is nearly 30 years long already), I can see clear activity periods.
In elementary school, I was quite active and took part in different types of sports. Heck, I even competed.
But when I turned 13-14 and started junior high, everything but exercise was so much more interesting. Especially boys. My lazy days had arrived. Luckily, they didn’t last for more than five years or so. And now, while getting closer to 30, I’m still enjoying an active lifestyle, and I can’t really see that changing in the future either. Not if I get to stay healthy, that is.
But why is it that so many get stuck in the lazy period?
Don’t they ever get to experience the adrenaline kick you get after a great, sweaty workout? Or the calm and relaxation you can feel only by taking a long walk in the forest?
There was an article on this topic in the NY Times today, titled “As Children Grow, Activity Quickly Slows“.
“When you are younger, it’s much easier to go out and do things spontaneously,” said James A. Griffin, deputy chief of the Child Development and Behavior Branch at the national institutes’ Center for Research for Mothers and Children. “But when you get older, kids tend to play a video game or watch television with their friends. Parents need to be aware to help them balance that out a little better.”
I’m not a parent yet, but hope to become one soon. Although there are loads of challenges involved in raising a child (lots of which only those who already have kids know about), I think one of the major ones in today’s society is related to this very issue. How to raise our kids so that they learn to appreciate an active lifestyle?
Being a good role model is naturally the first step. But what to do if that isn’t enough?
Can we trust our children to eventually develop the interest on their own?
I know that’s what I did after my lazy days.
Still a couple of hours left of my second challenge day, but I thought I’d write the update already as I’ll be working for the rest of the evening.
I’m getting into internet business and opening my first web shop, so I’m going through some really interesting times right now. Got to love that! But it’s really true as they say… the more you learn, the more you get to realize how much you don’t know. I think that’s a good thing though - life would be sooo boring if there wasn’t anything to learn.
Anyway, this morning I did my 20 minutes of intervals as laid out by Craig in Turbulence Training for Abs. Was sweating like crazy when I was done.
Can’t believe there was a time when I liked go for a 40 minute run instead, when I can get much more out of 20 minutes this way. Efficient and effective.
Diet’s been basically the same as yesterday. I’m absolutely crazy about black olives these days, which is really weird. Cause two months ago, I couldn’t stand the taste of them. Go figure.
I blame Subway - their salads have converted me from an olive hater to an olive lover
I’m thinking I might still go for a walk tonight, with my poles. Nordic walking is the sh*t! =)
82 days to go…
So, the D-day finally got here. And what a day it’s been. The sun’s been shining all day long. Just awesome. And no, it doesn’t even matter that I’m at work, just seeing the sun through the window does wonders for how I feel.
Took my measurements this morning and some pics. I’ll post the measurements, but… well… I’ll leave the pics for later =)
Weight: 55.7 kg
Waist: 67.5 cm
Tummy: 75.5 cm
Butt: 90.5 cm
Thighs: 52 (right) 51 (left)
Biceps: 27.3 (right) 28 left
I’ll post a chart of the progress each day of the 12 week challenge.
Diet’s been good today. I’ve had porridge, loads of veggies, ham, chicken and my home made protein muffins :p Who said food has to be boring when cutting?
Did the first Turbulence Training for Abs workout this morning, and it was quite fun. I started with the intermediate program and am planning on going with that for two weeks before moving forward to the advanced programs. The first intermediate workout had a couple of exercises I hadn’t done before, and the entire thing felt really fresh and new. I’ll be doing the intervals on separate days to get the most out of them, so tomorrow morning I’ll be hitting the elliptical before going to work.
83 days to go B-)
You know the feeling of “I’ve had it”. You know, when you get this urgent determination to just make a change. When you feel as if nothing’s gonna stop you?
I know I do, cause I got that feeling this morning.
As so many others, I’ve been struggling with my eating behavior, going from eating nearly nothing to eating way too much.
Right now, I’m in the second category.
And I’ve been there for a quite a while, and have thought of making a change for nearly as long.
But you now how easy it is to rationalize… and procrastinate. I’ll start “my new life” on Monday. And then you’re right back with your “old life” again on Wednesday.
Well, this time is going to be different. And no, I’m not just saying that. I’ve made a bet with my hubby that I’ll have 6 kilos less fat 12 weeks from now.
I’ve tried sooo many diets in the past and at least as many training programs. And actually, I’m no believer in a specific diet or training plan. Cause each and every one of the plans would probably have worked if I had only followed them consistently. Now I’m making a commitment to myself and to my hubby to stick to Turbulence Training for Abs for 12 weeks.
I really like Craig Ballantyne’s other Turbulence Training programs, so I bet this new one will be just as much fun.
Especially as I’ll be getting the results too, this time.
I’m starting on Monday. Not because I want to put it off, but because I need to make some plans first… mustn’t forget the 5 Ps you know… Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance.
Wish me luck. It’d be great if someone else would join me in my 12 week challenge starting next week. Just drop me a line if you want to transform as well. After all, you can never have too much social support.
